I HAVE OFTEN POLISHED MY SWORD BEFORE
By Count Andrew of Riga, Sir Steven MacEanruig and Sir William the Lucky
I have often polished my sword before
Because each time I use it, it turns red with gore.
I will maim and slay, I love tourney days.
Oh, it's great to be a Western knight.
I don't really care who I kill today.
I will butcher every foeman who gets in my way.
Oh, I love to fight from morning 'til night,
Oh, it's great to be a Western knight.
And, oh! The glorious feeling
When I slay a foe from the rear;
The overpowering feeling
That in battle there is no one who's my peer.
On the battle field is where you'll find me.
There is no place else on Earth that I would rather be.
I'm a country knight, but I do things right,
Oh, it's great to be a Western knight.
My allegiance is to the highest price.
If I'm paid enough my sister will be chopped and diced.
Until judgement comes I'm a knightly bum,
Oh, it's great to be a Western knight.
And, oh! The glorious feeling
When I slay a foe from the rear;
The overpowering feeling
That in battle there is no one who's my peer.
On the battle ground I shall never yield
Oh how I love to maim and slay out on the field.
I must kill my foe, that is all I know,
Oh, it's great to be a Western knight.
I've now killed enough for a single day,
But I sure think that it's fun to hack and maim and slay.
I have had my way, all are dead today,
Oh, it's great to be a Western knight.
